Historique :	Sources documentaires : GG3 Archives municipales Briançon : Folio 38 : 27 mars 1664 Nicolas Chapuis doit faire deux statues de saint Paul et saint Pierre pour les consuls de Briançon (de cinq pieds de haut). Folio 38 : Grenoble le 21 mai 1669 quittance de Nicolas Chapuis "pour reste et entier paiement des ouvrages mentionnés à la convention" : septante-sept livres. Folio 28 : transport des statues de Grenoble à Briançon le 14 juin 1669. Folio 40 : pose des statues le 3 décembre 1670. Folio 14 : le menuisier Estienne Laurans repeint les bras des deux statues (couleur chair) en 1688. (Service du patrimoine de la ville) La statue est placée en hauteur à l’angle sud du choeur, au niveau du transept. Elle fait pendant à celle de saint Paul placée à l’angle nord du choeur. Bon état. Provient de l’ancienne église Notre-Dame. OEuvre du sculpteur grenoblois Nicolas Chapuis.
