Historique :	Cet ostensoir compte parmi les plus belles pièces d'orfèvrerie conservées dans les Hautes-Alpes. Il ne s'agit cependant pas d'une oeuvre exécutée localement mais d'une pièce offerte par un négociant distillateur du roi installé à Nancy, un certain Claude Boisserand. Claude Mansuy, orfèvre de Nancy, reçu maître en 1733, encore actif en 1775 ; Claude-Léopold Barilly, maître de la maîtrise de Nancy entre 1765 et 1771. Le style de l'ostensoir est typique du Louis XV assagi, le style transition. Ses proportions sont trapues (pied évasé, gloire assez petite), son exécution est raffinée notamment dans sa ciselure ; la qualité de ses reliefs est cependant moyenne. On notera que les initiales P.B.C., probablement celles du donateur, sont placées dans des armoiries comtales entourées de curieux attributs qui semblent évoquer l'industrie : équerre, marteau, truelle, compas.
